CBD Dental, Sydney, located on Castlereagh Street, is a modern and outstanding facility in the heart of Sydney's CBD (central business district). Established over 20 years ago with the vision of creating a multi-disciplined state of the art dental facility, CBD Dental remain focused to provide patients with a comprehensive range of treatments and services; from general dental check-ups and kids dentistry, to more complex services such as dental implants, veneers and Invisalign.
Our philosophy at CBD Dental is simple: to treat all patients as we would wish to be treated. We recognise people have different priorities but also aim to impart the significant importance teeth can have on not only your oral health but also your general health, all within the walls of our state of the art Sydney dental practice. Angela Hoad graduated as a Dental Therapist in 1979 and worked for 7 years with the Royal Flying Doctor Service treating children in remote communities in western NSW.
In 1986 she changed careers and was a flight attendant with Qantas for 3 years before moving to Adelaide to continue studying Dental Hygiene. Upon graduating she moved back to Sydney and worked in a number of dental practices, and for the last 25 years she has been working with Dr Rod Wills and the team at CBD Dental.
Angela has been an active member of the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia and served on the executive committee for a number of years. She has also been a Clinical Supervisor for Newcastle University Bachelor of Oral Health students.
When not at work Angela enjoys keeping fit by cycling, swimming and bushwalking, she fulfils her love of music by singing in a community choir.
Catherine completed her Bachelor of Oral Health (BOH) degree with Adult Scope at the University of Sydney. As an Oral Health Therapist with Adult Scope, Catherine is dual-qualified to perform extractions and nerve treatment on children alongside dental cleans, fillings, restorative and cosmetic work for patients of all ages. This includes in-chair and take-home whitening services and advice.
She has the utmost passion and ambition for holistic and patient centred care. She believes that optimising and encouraging the maintenance of the individual’s natural dentition, through education, will achieve optimum quality of life.
When not at TLC Dental, you’ll find Catherine at the local beach. She also loves hiking but lately, she has been spending her time camping making her friends consider her a 'seasoned camper'.
Dr Chris Karikios

“We constantly strive for better.” This is the simple statement that Dr Chris Karikios applies to his dental practice. Whether it be through the use of technology, continuing education or from patient feedback.
Dr Chris Karikios has lived in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs all his life. After attending Sydney Boys High, he graduated from Sydney University in 1987 and has worked in Sydney ever since.
Dr Chris Karikios’s prime area of interest is in the use of virtual reality design in clinical dentistry, primarily with the CEREC system – a facet of dentistry which he and his staff constantly refine with continuing education.
In his spare time Chris enjoys water activities particularly surfing – a passion that he shares with his wife and two children.
Jessica Ham graduated as a Dental Hygienist in 2006 from the Otago University Dental School in New Zealand. From there she worked with Accent Dental in Auckland for four years before relocating to Sydney.
Jessica has been with CBD Dental, working under Dr Nadine Samir team since 2010. She is thrilled to be apart of this fun and innovative dental team and thrives on seeing results and making a difference in patients health and well being.
Jessica’s interests are spending time with her two children Jackson’s and Millie and recently got into CrossFit. She’s done a half marathon and three Spartan race.
Dr Leonard Hoffenberg

Dr Leonard Hoffenberg qualified as a dentist in South Africa in 1985. After practicing there for 14 years he moved to Australia with his family in 1998 and founded TLC Dental in that year.
Dr Hoffenberg chose this name because it epitomises the way he practices. Many people are nervous about having dental treatment, and he wants his patients to feel comfortable in a warm, caring environment. Dr Len Hoffenberg wants patients to believe and understand that they are receiving, not only the highest standard of dental care, whether it be preventative, cosmetic, or restorative but also total personal service by a dedicated, cohesive team.
His patients can be reassured knowing that he has a very dedicated team, of whom he is very proud. Each member has been chosen with your needs and comfort in mind.
Melissa Arbabi
Oral Health Therapist
Melissa Arbabi graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Oral Health where she was awarded the prize for the Highest Clinical and Academic Performance in Dental Therapy for her year. She furthered her studies by attaining extended adult scope, making her dually qualified in dental hygiene and dental therapy for all ages.
Her key focus is creating a positive dental experience for all patients. She has a particular interest in preventative dentistry and helping people develop an interest in their oral health.
She has been involved in various dental outreach programs and has also volunteered in South East Asia. She continues to update her skills and knowledge by regularly attending Continuing Professional Dental Development courses.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends and exploring new cafes and restaurants.
Dr Michael Franks
Endodontist
Dr Michael Franks graduated from The University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1979) with a Certificate in Endodontics. Being Past President and Founder of the South African Endodontic Society, Dr Franks has lectured extensively - both in Australia and overseas - on various topics.
Dr Franks was one of the first clinicians in Australia to adopt rotary instrumentation techniques, which in the meantime have revolutionised endodontics both in terms of operator precision and in terms of patient experience. For the past 20 years he has offered treatment with i.v. sedation (with the help of a registered specialist anaesthetist) for the particularly anxious patient. Dr Franks' particular interest lies in the revision of previously failed endodontic treatment, and in the salvage of "terminal" teeth.
Prior to his residency in endodontics, Dr. Franks graduated from the BDS program at the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa) and spent six years in General Practice.
Dr Nadine Samir
Lead Dentist
Dr Samir completed her Dental degree in 1987 at Sydney University and graduated with the prize for Proficiency in Orthodontics. She has practiced dentistry in several locations in Sydney and Canberra before settling at CBD Dental in 1995.
For Dr Samir, a dentist’s main role is care of their patients. This encompasses not only treatment of dental issues but doing so with the highest degree of compassion, always providing a comfortable environment and the latest standard of treatments. Dr Samir puts much time and effort into understanding each patient’s concerns and has invested much time in learning about pain-free methods of delivering treatment.
Dr Samir is committed to providing her patients with the best dental care. This involves keeping abreast of the latest treatments and techniques which are continuously developing, as well as carrying out this treatment with a high degree of skill and an eye for aesthetics. Dr Samir’s education in dentistry will thus be ongoing as long as she is in practice. She has also formed a network with some of Sydney’s best specialists and ceramists to offer her patients an overall excellent outcome.
Dr Samir has focused her team on making each patient feel the care and excellence that they aim to provide, whether new to the practice or a long term patient. Her own very genuine nature shines through every interaction with patients and staff alike. Our most rewarding feedback has been having a number of patients liken a visit to our practice to that of a 5 star hotel.
Nik Prieston, has been committed to the natural beautification of teeth since 1987. Thriving on the challenge of combining creativity, technical ability and clinical professionalism to design functionally aesthetic solutions for his patients, Nik is a dedicated believer in the true beauty of natural aesthetics.

Dr Rod Wills
Lead Dentist
Dr Rod Wills started his dental practice in the Central Business District of Sydney in the early 1970’s. He has been in the one continuous practice since then. During this time, Dr Wills has observed a continuing change in the type of dental care requested by patients along with amazing technological advances in delivering this care.
It is this continuing change in the demographics of his practice and the evolving technology that keeps Dr Wills highly motivated and passionate about his profession. With a vast majority of the community wanting to keep their teeth looking and functioning at their absolute best, Dr Wills saw the need to develop a high degree of skill to meet these treatment requirements.
Over the past two decades, Dr Wills has devoted his professional energy into developing a sound business model for his practice along with a rigorous post-graduate and professional development program.
Dr Wills’ main interests lie in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry. He is a member of The Australian Dental Association, a member of The Australian Prosthodontic Society, a member of The International and Australian Society of Periodontology, a member of The Australian Osseointegration Society and a member of The CEREC (Computerised Restorative Dentistry) Study Club.
In recent years Dr Wills attended The Advanced Continuing Education Institute in Italy to study the most up to date treatments in the field of Aesthetic Rehabilitation Dentistry. He formed a small International Study Group with his classmates from that programme. They meet at the European Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry Congress each year to listen to the World’s experts deliver the latest and most up to date information in this challenging field of Dentistry.
Dr Sam Guirguis graduated in 1989 from the Sydney University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Driven by his passion and desire to aid others with their dental health, he went on to achieve his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
Dr Guirguis' extensive career has also seen him training and working across the UK, New Zealand and country New South Wales, owning his own practice, teaching undergraduate students as a part time Clinical Instructor at Sydney University, and training at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) for five years.
Although highly experienced and enjoying all aspects of general dentistry, Dr Guirguis particularly enjoys working in the areas of comprehensive full mouth rehabilitation, orthodontics (braces and Invisalign), facial aesthetics (injectables and fillers) and treatment for sleep disordered breathing, snoring and sleep apnoea.
Dr Guirguis finds his role as a dentist particularly rewarding and enjoys assisting his patients in reaching their outcomes whether through optimal oral health or a cosmetic solution to something they have been challenged with. He additionally finds great joy in interacting with patients and working in a fun environment alongside a wonderful team of dental professionals.
Dedicated to his professional development, Dr Guirguis is continually keeping up to date with the latest orthodontic treatment and post graduate education in dental sleep medicine. His commitment to the field of dentistry has also previously seen him complete post graduate studies in orthodontics, implants and cosmetic full mouth rehabilitation - allowing him to achieve recognition as one of only four LVI clinical instructors in Australia.
Outside of dentistry, Dr Guirguis has a passion for travelling with his wife and kids, skiing, golf, tennis, good food and single malt whiskey.
