Having a dazzling white smile can do wonders for our confidence. However, staining and discolouration resulting from beverages such as tea, coffee and red wine or activities such as smoking can cause our teeth to be far from the bright white colour we’d love.

If you’re self-conscious about discoloured teeth, we’ve got great news. National Dental Care offers a range of professional teeth whitening options that are safe, convenient and highly effective. From in-clinic teeth whitening in our state-of-the-art dental practices to handy take-home whitening kits, we’ve got all you need to enjoy the benefits of a beautiful white smile.

Why choose professional teeth whitening?

There are a number of reasons why professional teeth whitening is a better and safer option than the DIY whitening kits you may have seen advertised on the internet. Here are some of the advantages offered by professional teeth whitening:

  • Safety: Professional teeth whitening is performed under the supervision of a trained dentist, making it far safer than using DIY whitening products, which can result in damage to your teeth and gums.
  • Superior results: In-practice whitening and take-home kits generally produce more noticeable results because Dentists can issue prescription only gel which is much stronger than what is available to the public.
  • Personalised support: When you choose professional teeth whitening, you can easily contact your dentist if you have any concerns, or need some advice.
  • Better oral health: By undergoing professional teeth whitening, your dentist can also assess your teeth and identify any other dental issues requiring treatment.

When deciding between professional teeth whitening and over-the-counter whitening kits, it’s important to be aware that the latter option may end up doing more harm than good. DIY teeth whitening products can contain harsh granules which can damage teeth, and often have very low concentrations of whitening agent.

How does professional teeth whitening work?

There are two main options when it comes to professional teeth whitening - in-chair whitening and take-home whitening.

In-chair teeth whitening

At National Dental Care, we offer Zoom! in-chair teeth whitening, which brightens your teeth in as little as one hour, making it a fast and highly effective option. During your appointment, a whitening gel will be applied to your teeth every 15-20 minutes.

Zoom! offers fantastic whitening results in a short space of time and the results can last for months. Another advantage of our in-chair teeth whitening is the fact that your dentist can answer your questions or address any concerns during the procedure.

Most patients experience virtually no pain or sensitivity with Zoom!, but if you do experience discomfort in your teeth or gums after your appointment, you can call your dentist for advice.

Take-home teeth whitening kits

If you’re looking for a convenient way to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home, our take-home kits are a great option. This method involves custom dental trays and whitening gel that you apply according to the instructions provided by your dentist.

At-home teeth whitening kits are less invasive than in-chair whitening, but it’s important to note that this method will take longer than having your teeth whitened in a practice. It generally takes around one to two weeks to achieve optimum results with at-home teeth whitening kits.

You can also choose the strength of the whitening solution based on your individual needs, and the gel comes in a variety of flavours to make the experience more pleasant.
