CAD/CAM

Warm, beautiful smiles help us to communicate well with others and make deeper connections with our relatives, neighbours, and friends. Unfortunately, some people refuse to smile because of shame. They may have unsightly gaps or missing teeth that they're afraid that others might notice. Do you hide your smile because of fear? You don't have to be ashamed anymore.

A courteous National Dental Care professional can help restore your smile to its radiant glory. We offer convenient, custom-made veneers, ceramic crowns, and implants using our state-of-the-art CEREC computer-aided design.

This revolutionary technology provides same-day restoration solutions for patients who want an instant transformation of their smiles. There are no temporary crowns or the need for a second visit. You'll receive your new crown in two hours. Additionally, we provide other in-house dentistry CEREC CAD/CAM options include fillings, ceramic inlays, bridges and dental implants.

What is CAD/CAM Technology?

Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) dentistry use digital scans to produce 3D models of your prepared tooth (or teeth). Dentists use these scans to produce a virtual design for dental restorations. They also use this technology to perform complex procedures more accurately and much faster for their patients.

Additionally, they use CAD/CAM and metal-free materials to fabricate durable, well-fitting dental prosthodontics that can replace a person's missing teeth. These include milled ceramic crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays, and bridges from a single block of ceramics.

This process makes the final product more durable and highly customised to patients compared to traditional dentistry fabrication methods.

CAD/CAM technology and materials have dramatically improved since their inception. Today's restorations are translucent, multicoloured, and look more natural than previous versions.

What is CEREC Technology?

CEREC is a revolutionary method of CAD/CAM dentistry machine developed by W. Mormann and M. Brandestini at the University of Zurich in 1980. The process allows dentists to fabricate, produce, and install customised ceramic restorations directly at the point of treatment in a single appointment rather than over multiple ones.

Today's CEREC capabilities now extend far beyond single same-day restoration solutions. Their dental solutions now include restorative solutions such as caps, dental implants, and 3-D orthodontic aligner trays.

What Can You Expect During the CEREC CAD/CAM Dentistry Procedure?

Dentists may use an optical scanner to gather digital impressions of your tooth (or teeth). They can also scan them a traditional model obtained from conventional impressions. They use these image scans to develop fantastic, virtual designs for restorative devices. It is then sent to an in-house lab technician who uses a 3-D printer to manufacture these appliances.

Our dentists use CAD/CAM technology to design custom, same-day restorations for patients. CAD/CAM dentistry involves three simple steps:

  • A National Dental Care dentist will provide you with anaesthesia, to numb pain and prepare your teeth and gums for the procedure.
  • We'll take a digital impression or scan of the teeth using an intraoral scanning device like CEREC.
  • Our dental professionals will fabricate a restoration design for your dental appliance using high-quality scans from CEREC or another digital device.
  • We'll manufacture a customised digital device using computer-aided milling.
  • Next, we'll finish by sintering, polishing, and cementing your new dental appliance.

A National Dental Care dentist can complete this process within 40 minutes to two hours. It may sound like a long appointment, but the convenience these appointments provide for patients outweighs the time considerations. You won't need to make repeat trips to the dentist's office or schedule a second appointment.

Benefits of CEREC CAD/CAM Dentistry

CEREC CAD/CAM dentistry offers multiple benefits in the restorative dentistry process. Your dental devices typically look better because this process uses higher-grade materials than regular fillings. Your crowns and other dental devices will look like natural teeth. This technology also provides a more accurate fit for patients.

Another benefit of CEREC CAD/CAM is that it speeds up dental production work. In the past, dentists had to outsource their crowns, implants, and other dental work. Some people could wait almost three weeks. Today, dentists can complete the entire process in their office. Patients no longer have to rely on temporary restoration while waiting for their permanent one to arrive.

Research shows that modern milled CAD/CAM are more durable and less likely to fracture than previous versions milled from earlier materials.

CEREC CAD/CAM process is less invasive, more durable, and delivers faster results for patients. Many patients will receive a comfortable, precision fit that can last for years.

Is CEREC CAD/CAM Dentistry Right for You?

A National Dental Care Dentist will conduct several tests to determine whether you be a good candidate for CEREC CAD/CAM technology. If you are suitable, the professional will provide a full treatment plan with benefits you can expect from this treatment, along with cost considerations. Usually, treatment plans are competitive with those of traditional dental fabrication techniques.

Cost of CEREC CAD/CAM Restorations

All-ceramic restorations, including those manufactured at a dental laboratory using CAD/CAM technology, are more expensive restoration solutions. Although the materials for CAD/CAM restorations may cost more, the expenses incurred by the dental laboratory or dentist may not be passed onto the patient. There are no additional fees or costs to have restorations place in one visit as opposed to two.
