Oral cancer checks are performed by a National Dental Care dentist at each examination. The aim of the check is to find any signs of cancer in your mouth early, so medical treatment can begin as soon as possible.
During each examination, National Dental Care dentists look for any signs of changes in your soft tissues such as tongue, floor of mouth, lips and cheeks. Some changes may put you at risk of cancerous developments in the future.
Check for changes
If you have any unusual lumps or lesions in your mouth that have been there for more than two weeks, or have had difficulty swallowing for this time, tell your National Dental Care dentist so that a more thorough examination can be done.
