Low Dose X-Ray

Digital dental x-rays or radiographs have extremely low doses of radiation. They are very helpful in allowing dentists to quickly and easily find and treat potential problems before they get any worse. They are safer than film x-rays, producing 90% less radiation.

Why are x-rays important?

X-ray images are extremely important for detecting early signs of tooth decay or gum and bone diseases. Depending on the risk of dental disease, most patients will require x-ray images at least once every two to three years.

For people who are at risk of significant problems, the dentist, therapist or hygienist may take these images as frequently as every six months, until they show no signs of problems for one or two years in a row.
