Dr. Robert Hicks
Dentist | BDS
I have been practising dentistry continually since graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1973. To further my studies, I chose to do numerous short courses on top of my degree, including courses in sedation, operative dentistry, orthodontics, crown and bridgework, and implants.
After graduating, I went straight to work at a private practice in Manly as a new graduate. From 1974-1976, I travelled to the UK where I worked in national health and private dentistry. I then returned to Australia, where I began work at a private practice in Byron Bay and Murwillumbah until 1979, when I settled in Byron Bay with my own practice. Since 2014, I have been a senior dental surgeon with National Dental Care, Byron Bay.
I am a second-generation dentist, so have been exposed to dental talk and interest since I was a child. With this foundation, I have enjoyed dental work for my entire, long career. I particularly have the joy of administering quality dental services to three generations of the same families! I have a unique connection to my patients and their families. My patients reflect positively on my calm nature under pressure, and are reassured by my depth of experience. A lot of my patients are in fact referrals from other, satisfied patients.
In my leisure time, I like to keep fit by cycling, walking to the Byron Bay lighthouse, playing tennis, and golfing. I enjoy travelling to unusual places around the world, and love spending time with family and friends. I also devote time to doing pro bono work at the surgery, and supporting local charities through regular donations to internationally known NGOs and health research institutes.
