Press Release: National Dental Care acquires Hugh Fleming Dentistry, Mosman - National Dental Care

National Dental Care, (NDC), continues its expansion in Australia following the acquisition of Hugh Fleming Dentistry located in Mosman, Sydney.

National Dental Care is one of Australia’s largest Dental Groups with 60 practices across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and South Australia. The company has a careful growth strategy based on acquiring larger high quality practices, (3-6 chairs), that can provide a broad range of good value patient services utilising modern technologies. All current NDC practices are fully ADA accredited to ensure the highest standards of infection control and patient outcomes. Greenfield sites in key locations are also considered where there aren’t opportunities to acquire good practices.

National Dental Care CEO, Gordon Towell, commented, “I am delighted to announce that after many months of discussions with Dr Hugh Fleming, owner and founder of Hugh Fleming Dentistry, he has agreed to join the National Dental Care family. This addition will help accelerate our growth plans and further adds to NDC’s presence in New South Wales following our recent acquisition of Apple Dental in Sydney”.

Towell added, “There is a high level of synergy between Hugh Fleming Dentistry and NDC given our shared belief and genuine focus on excellent patient care, investment in new dental technologies, and training programs for both dentists and practice staff. We are delighted to welcome Hugh together with all his staff and clinicians into the NDC fold”.
Gordon went on to say, “We never lose sight of our patient needs which are at the heart of everything we do. Our dentists continue to lead our clinical strategy and have been instrumental in setting our equipment and training needs through the NDC Clinic Advisory Committee, (CAC). We care about our clinicians, our staff and our patients, and strive to provide the benchmark in dental facilities and services in the country for them.”

Hugh Fleming Dentistry founder and Vendor Dentist, Dr Hugh Fleming, will continue to manage the practice over the coming years and help drive the group strategy in conjunction with the CAC. Dr Fleming first studied diagnostic medical radiography at Charles Sturt University attaining a Diploma in Medical Radiography in 1981. He worked as a medical radiographer in several major Sydney and Canberra hospitals while completing his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Sydney in 1986.

His practice has a strong emphasis on all ceramic cosmetic dentistry and oral implants utilising the advanced 3D technologies of CEREC and GALILEOS on a day to day basis.

Dr Fleming has been surgically placing and prosthodontically restoring dental implants since 1987 and completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants) from the University of Sydney in 1989. Dr Fleming has lectured at the University of Sydney both to the undergraduate course, as Associate Lecturer in Implantology, and as Prosthodontic Mentor for the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry. He is also a regular presenter for Sirona Australia in the integration of GALILEOS and CEREC technologies in patient diagnosis, dental implant planning and the use of precision surgical guides in dental implant placement. Dr Hugh Fleming is currently one of only 8 fully trained and certified LANAP dentists in Australia offering the FDA approved LANAP and LAPIP treatments for patients suffering periodontal or peri-implant gum infections. He is also a member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Osseointegration Society and is one of only 300 CEREC Doctors Mentors worldwide.

Dr Fleming commented, “At Hugh Fleming Dentistry, we’re breaking the typical “clinical” type practice mould to offer a dental practice that patients find not only to be relaxing but above all personalised and sympathetic to their individual oral dental health needs. We do this by building rapport with our patients and getting to know their unique requirements and concerns. We place their long-term health and comfort first, and always take the time to discuss treatment with them thoroughly”. Hugh added, “Having spent considerable time with NDC senior management to understand their vision, I was excited to join the NDC team given both the focus on clinician governance, and their clear understanding and appreciation of the unique characteristics of my practice. I’m also looking forward to their support to enable my full time focus on dentistry and patients and to personally contributing to their clinical strategies over the coming years.”
