At South Terrace Dental Centre, we’re firm believers in giving back. We support the local community by volunteering our services to the homeless community through the fantastic initiative – Dental Rescue Day.
The sad facts
There are over 100,000 ‘recorded’ homeless people in Australia with over 7,500 of them living in Adelaide. Waiting lists are generally long and access to quality dental treatment is often impossible for those living without.
As dentists, we understand the important role that teeth play in our lives. Aside from helping us eat and live, teeth are one of the first things that other people notice about us. There is an inextricable link between our oral health, overall health and mental health.
Having missing or rotten teeth can have a very negative effect on our confidence and self esteem, especially on already vulnerable members of our community.
For us at South Terrace Dental Centre, Dental Rescue Day is an opportunity for us to reach the less privileged members of our local community. Participating in Dental Rescue Day is our chance to provide basic dental care to those who need it the most.
For the calendar
Dental Rescue Day is a cause our team of dentists, hygienists and clinical support staff feel strongly about. Because it’s been such a successful initiative over the past couple of years, we’re happy to announce that we’re lending a helping hand again this year on the 23rd of October, 2015.
